Ashok Sarkar, Cigi’s Head of Milling Technology, was recently recognized for his contributions to the milling industry globally with a prestigious award from the International Association of Operative Millers. He received the J. George Kehr Award for outstanding achievement in membership recruitment and district development at the IAOM Annual Conference & Expo in Niagara Falls ON on May 2. The award acknowledges Ashok’s work on the Global Strategies Committee and in helping organize the newest IAOM District in Southeast Asia as well as his extensive contribution to IAOM through his participation on the Education Committee. Cigi CEO Earl Geddes presented the award to Ashok who said he was taken by surprise by the recognition.

“The announcement was overwhelming,” says Ashok, who has worked in milling technology at Cigi since 1979. “IAOM is a big organization that has many members who work very hard to further its ideals and goals. So it was hard to believe when my name was called for the award to see every person there standing and applauding. It was also very special as our own CEO Earl Geddes was there to present this award to me.”
