Cigi has begun collecting grain samples from major grain handlers from several regions across the Prairies for the annual harvest assessment to be conducted this fall. Once collected the samples are then used to create composite samples, each representative of a Prairie region. The assessment will determine quality characteristics such as protein content, milling and flour properties, and the end-use suitability typical for each wheat class. The information will be made available to farmers, grain handlers, and grain customers.
