The Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals in Winnipeg is hosting a two-day national conference/workshop on probiotics and prebiotics on June 17-18, 2013. Prebiotics are a form of dietary fibre while probiotics are beneficial bacteria found in various foods. Featuring speakers from across Canada discussing the different aspects that both pre- and probiotics play in health and nutrition, the conference objective is to provide a forum for sharing ideas and create networking opportunities between the academic, industrial and government communities.
Cigi’s Dr. Rex Newkirk, Vice President, Research and Innovation is a member of the organizing committee and says the conference is also an opportunity to promote the health benefits of Canadian ingredients.
