All of the analysis, with the exception of the cookie dough test, have been completed for the Southwest Ontario composite samples. Based on the data the quality looks to be very similar to the wheat crop in both 2009 and 2010. The good news is that there seems to be a lot more No. 1 and 2 wheat out there, however, I would be hard pressed to say that there is much of an improvement in the functional quality of the wheat.Gluten strength in the soft wheat is still on the lower end of what the majority of the industry would desire. I plan on putting a few slides together to illustrate how this year’s crop compares to what the industry would like to see.
